Since we were flying from Milan to Barcelona, we decided to stay a couple nights to do at least a little exploring. And as the weather did not cooperate, we were glad it was just a short visit.

We stayed very close to the center of the old city - within about a 15 minute walk to the Duomo and several different little neighborhoods, and parks. The weather wasn’t great, but still a beautiful and walkable city, which we always enjoy.

Great architecture, and old trolleys still at work (along with newer versions of course). We also found some little neighborhood street markets - they must move to different places each day of the week. Food trucks selling fresh cheeses and meats, and also fruit and vegetable stands.

Found one of our favorite places from Florence - La Prosciutteria - to enjoy a nice lunch board of cheese, meat, vegetables and bread (and of course some vino to go with it). Love the fresh food here and the atmosphere of the place.

A walk past the Duomo and the Monument to King Vittorio Emanuele II - the first king of a unified Italy and the first monarch after Napoleon (yes, he was also King of Italy at one time). It is a beautiful city - probably even better when the sun is out - and with more time to explore, next time we hope to see much more.

Next - on to Spain!
