Time to get traveling again - this time to Asia for a few month. But wait…masks???Luckily, only on the airline and they eliminated this requirement a few days later.

We headed to Asia in early March, stopping first for about a week in beautiful Seoul. This gave us a chance to see old friends and colleagues from our business years. I had a chance to play “screen golf” with some of our old sales team at Westwood, and we were able to meet up with our friend and colleague from Weyerhaeuser, DH Cho, in addition to many others. Still quite cold in Seoul, but we shipped some of our heavier clothes home after visiting here.

From Seoul we flew to Bangkok where we had about five days to start getting used to the heat and humidity. It was not bad, but certainly going to get worse over the coming month or so. We had a great place to stay - the Sheraton Royal Orchid - with views over the river where we could just sit and watch the boat traffic, and occasional fireworks!

One morning we took a Guru Walk (guru walk.com) seeing some interesting parts of Chinatown and then heading to one of the floating markets. Then from the floating market, we headed back to our hotel via Tuk Tuk. Great way to see parts of this huge city.

We stayed pretty close to our hotel on this trip - we had visited Bangkok once before - mainly just walking local neighborhoods and visiting the huge “ICONSIAM” mall across the river. An enormous place with high end shopping (and car dealerships), and a huge food court / marketplace on the lower level.

They were having a local food expo in this area, with many little booths to try different things, and a very nice massage place to get foot and back massages. This became our go to place nearly every evening!

The street art in this city is amazing. Something around every corner. We found “Art Alley” near our hotel with many murals and some great little coffee shops as well.

We enjoyed these few days in Bangkok, and will have a few more days here later in our travels.

Next stop is Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in northern Thailand.

Hope this post finds everyone well.

Take care,

Tim and Eileen
